“I do not think that word means what you think it means”

Funny thing happened on the way to installing the MS Web Platform Installer; before I go any further, this is not a crack against the WPI, in my opinion, the WPI is one of the greatest things MS had recently released to help me keep my machine working in Dev Mode easily.

The download page for the web installer touts its virtues, among the list is the following

Now I don’t want to be Churlish about that statement, but my first personal computer (A Zeos 386sx) had a Whooping 256k bytes of memory.  I’m not sure you can call something “tiny” when it is 8 times the size of my original memory chip.

As a general rule this blog is for Business, Technical and not personal musings, but I reserve the right to be inconsistent, and this is one of those times!

I’m a geek, always have been, and happy to be so, and always will be.  In the town where I currently live (Napier, New Zealand), we do not yet have a 3d theatre.  Consequently I have been waiting to see Avatar because if didn’t want to ruin the experience of 3d by seeing it first in 2d.  Yesterday we drove to Mt. Manganui (a 3.5 hour trip, ONE WAY) to see Avatar 3d in the closest 3d theatre to us.  That’s the level of my dedication to my Geekiness.

Avatar rocked on first viewing; it’s good time was surpassed only by the 3 Lord of the Rings films.  Now if those had been in 3d…

Now that I’ve seen it in 3d, I can go back and watch it in 2d to appreciate the nuances and the story and see if it holds up to repeated viewings, like Aliens (I can watch that movie over and over).

An oldie, but a REAL goodie!

I came across this again today, and couldn’t stop laughing (and pretending I NEVER did that!).

Introduction to Abject-Oriented Programming

Saddest thing about this article, in the comments some “programmers” were too stupid to get the joke.  They shouldn’t be let near a keyboard!
